North wins 89-78

Jackie Hauke led the North to a victory with 25 points

In a game that would eventually see both teams combine for 167 points the girls game in the 2004 District 14 Pepsi Classic started off slow. At the 14 minute mark of the first half the score was only 10-7 in favor of the South squad. At that point things really started to heat up. The remainder of the half saw both squads trading baskets and both scored 26 points apiece. The half time score was 36-33 in favor of the South squad. Heather Grooms (Sciotoville East) lead the way with 12 first half points. Brittany Brewster (Western) chipped in 8 points to help the cause. Cassie Wertman (Zane Trace) kept the North squad close with 10 first half points and Katie Frey (Unioto) assisted with 8 points.

In the second half it was the sharp shooting of Jackie Hauke (Whiteoak) and Cassi Wertman (Zane Trace) along with the inside play of Alicia Brokaw (Chillicothe) that fueled the North squad. Hauke scored 21 of her game high 25 points in the second half to leadr the North. Hauke connected on 5 three-pointers during her scoring spree. Wertman scored 11 second half points including (3 three-pointers) and Brokaw also scored 11. The North squad scored 54 points in the second half on its way to a 89-78.
